You can make any changes in .ost files when you are offline, you can send messages, you can move items in offline inbox, read offline folders etc. These OST files cause damage so it is important to convert OST files to PST files so that these important OST data can be used in PST format of Outlook. Corruption makes OST files out of use, but to make them usable, use outside software. Solution to Convert OST to PST: To use unusable OST, convert damaged OST files into PST files which afterwards become usable.
